According to the statistics, 1,697 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total amount of US$7,974,518,000 were approved from January to September 2023. This indicates a decrease of 7.57% in the number of cases, and a decrease of 28.42% in FDI amount compared to the same period of 2022.

With regard to inward investment from Mainland China, 21 cases were approved with an amount of US$26,578,000 from January to September 2023. This indicates a decrease of 41.67% in the number of cases, but an increase of 38.08% in the FDI amount compared to the same period of 2022. From July 2009 to September 2023, 1,577 cases were approved with a total investment amount added up to US$2,592,833,000.

In terms of Taiwan's outbound investment (excluding Mainland China), 414 projects were registered from January to September 2023 with a total amount of US$17,481,472,000, indicating an increase of 1.47% in the number of cases, and an increase of 190.06% in the amount, as compared to the same period of 2022.

As for Taiwan's outward investment to Mainland China, 249 applications have been approved from January to September 2023, indicating a decrease of 7.43% compared to the same period of 2022. The approved investment amount is US$2,528,805,000, 17.03% less than the same period in 2022.
