According to the statistics, 1,864 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total amount of US$8,398,526,000 were approved from January to October 2023. This indicates a decrease of 8.18% in the number of cases, and a decrease of 27.35% in FDI amount compared to the same period of 2022.

With regard to inward investment from Mainland China, 22 cases were approved with an amount of US$26,733,000 from January to October 2023. This indicates a decrease of 43.59% in the number of cases, but an increase of 25.60% in the FDI amount compared to the same period of 2022. From July 2009 to October 2023, 1,578 cases were approved with a total investment amount added up to US$2,592,987,000.

In terms of Taiwan’s outbound investment (excluding Mainland China), 467 projects were registered from January to October 2023 with a total amount of US$22,483,445,000, indicating an increase of 4.24% in the number of cases, and an increase of 169.88% in the amount, as compared to the same period of 2022.

As for Taiwan’s outward investment to Mainland China, 278 applications have been approved from January to October 2023, indicating a decrease of 6.08% compared to the same period of 2022. The approved investment amount is US$2,639,583,000, 36.60% less than the same period in 2022.
