According to the statistics, 185 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total amount of US$684,320,000 were approved in January 2024. This indicates an increase of 14.91% in the number of cases, and an increase of 134.62% in FDI amount compared to the same period of 2023.

With regard to inward investment from Mainland China, 3 cases were approved with an amount of US$3,049,000 in January 2024. This indicates a decrease of 25% in the number of cases, but an increase of 245.72% in the FDI amount compared to the same period of 2023. From July 2009 to January 2024, 1,589 cases were approved with a total investment amount added up to US$2,598,995,000.

In terms of Taiwan’s outbound investment (excluding Mainland China), 61 projects were registered in January 2024 with a total amount of US$447,366,000, indicating an increase of 69.44% in the number of cases, and an increase of 6.43% in the amount, as compared to the same period of 2023.

   As for Taiwan’s outward investment to Mainland China, 23 applications have been approved in January 2024, indicating a decrease of 14.81% compared to the same period of 2023. The approved investment amount is US$95,611,000, 66.30% less than the same period in 2023.
